A native of Colorado, Kaylynn went west after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Northern Colorado. Once in Seattle, she spent some time working at a boutique marketing firm before attending Seattle University School of Law. During her third year of law school, Kaylynn completed a full time, semester-long externship with the honorable Thomas Zilly, Western District of Washington, United States District Court.

After graduating magna cum laude from SU Law in 2010, Kaylynn moved to Olympia to clerk with the honorable Justice Charles Johnson, Washington State Supreme Court. Kaylynn was heavily involved in the Olympia community, including serving as the president of the board of the Olympia Film Society. She also volunteered with Safe Place and Thurston Volunteer Legal Services.

After her clerkship ended, Kaylynn joined the Office of the Attorney General, first in the Labor & Industries Division. In that role, Kaylynn represented the Department of Occupational Safety and Health, worked closely with the Office of the Medical Director in establishing the Provider Network, and handled numerous jury trials.

After five years in Olympia, in 2015, Kaylynn transferred to the Torts Division in Seattle, where she defended state agencies in tort and employment lawsuits. Kaylynn transitioned to the Torts Appellate Team in 2020, where she advised trial teams, reviewed appellate briefs, and personally represented various state agencies in their appeals. Kaylynn has argued cases in front of all three divisions of the Washington Court of Appeals, the Washington State Supreme Court, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Kaylynn joined our firm in 2023. She continues to defend state agencies as a Special Assistant Attorney General, including in appellate matters. Additionally, Kaylynn works with our Bellingham office representing clients for several major insurance carriers.
