Jay R. Simmons
Jay was born and raised in the rural Midwest, graduating from Central College in 2002 with his BA in Biology. He moved to Seattle in August 2002 to join an Americorps program. He attended Seattle University School of Law, graduating cum laude in 2015. While at Seattle University, Jay was a member of the Seattle University Law Review, including being a published author. He clerked for partner Kelley Sweeney during his third year of law school, later joining her field legal office, and eventually joining her at Simmons Sweeney Smith. Jay practices from Simmons Sweeney Smith’s Seattle / Bellevue office.
Before attending Seattle University School of Law, Jay had a lengthy paralegal career, including over four years at an insurance defense firm. His attorney career has focused predominantly on insurance defense, including taking cases to trial and arbitrating and settling numerous other cases.
During his free time, Jay enjoys spending time with his wife and their goldendoodle. He also enjoys reading, staying active with home projects, and cheering on his favorite Midwest sports teams.
