Jay was born and raised in the rural Midwest. He graduated from Central College in 2002 with his BA in Biology, then moved to Seattle to join an Americorps program. Jay attended Seattle University School of Law, graduating Cum Laude in 2015. While at Seattle University he was a member of the Seattle University Law Review and became a published author. During his third year of law school he clerked for Kelley Sweeney, then subsequently joined her field legal office and eventually Simmons Sweeney Smith. Jay practices from the firm’s Seattle / Bellevue office.

 

​Before attending Seattle University School of Law, Jay had a lengthy paralegal career. His attorney career has focused predominantly on insurance defense, including taking multiple cases to trial and arbitrating and settling numerous others.

 

During his free time Jay enjoys spending time with his family.
